Periodically, a scam will emerge in the travel industry. In the past, there were card mills. Today, the problem is multi level marketing or MLM.
Although the margins in travel are not enough to support MLM, it has not stopped several companies from using the lure of travel to recruit people into their schemes.
Unfortunately, most of the people who buy into these programs do not come close to earning back their investment. Worse, the industry is infused with unqualified, untrained, and often uncaring people posing as professional travel agents. Consumers losing considerable amounts of money and receiving substandard experiences are common.
And the legitimate travel professionals are left with a black eye and a mess to clean up. Several suppliers and industry associations have blacklisted some of these companies. We suggest that consumers do as well.
